Weekend Preview 11/12 June

This weekend will mark the halfway point in all three divisions. The TPL and 1st Division are supposedly having a one month break while the 2nd division will carry on as normal.

There will still be plenty of football for TPL and Division 1 teams to play with a sprinkling of make-up league games, FA Cup and Toyota League Cup fixtures scheduled for the mid-season siesta.

This weekend’s fixtures are:

TPL

Thai Port v Khon Kaen
Navy v Sriracha
Buriram PEA v Chiang Rai
TOT v BEC Tero
Samut Songkram v Army
TTM Pichit v Sisaket
Osotspa Saraburi v Police
Bangkok Glass v Chonburi
Muangthong v Pattaya

Bangkok Glass v Chonburi is the biggie this weekend. The game is all ticket and will most likely be a sell-out on Sunday. Last season the corresponding fixture finished 0-0 and that result would suit Buriram PEA as they will be hoping to increase their lead at the top by picking up 3 points at home to Chiang Rai.

Muangthong will be confident of beating Pattaya and likewise on-form Thai Port will be expecting a victorious send-off for their head coach, Sasom Pobpraserd, against Khon Kaen at the PAT.

TOT and BEC Tero will play their fixture at the Royal Thai Army Stadium. Both sides could do with a win after recent poor form. BEC will be hoping that new coach, Phayong Khunnaen, can halt their 4 game losing streak.

Army United have still to win on the road this term and face a tricky trip to the ramshackle Samut Songkram Stadium.

Division 1

Raj Pracha v Suphanburi
RBAC v Chantaburi
Phuket v Chainat
BBCU v Air Force
JW Rangsit v Buriram FC
Bangkok Utd v Saraburi
Songkla v Customs
PTT Rayong v Thai Honda
Chiang Mai v Bangkok FC

BBCU will hope that last week’s defeat at Buriram was just a blip and they’ll want to get back to winning ways with a victory over Air Force. The away side will bring a good following and the Airmen will be desperate to give them something to cheer about as their season has been mediocre so far.

Third-placed Bangkok United will have a tough match at their Rangsit home against Saraburi while the other Rangsit team, JW Rangsit, take on high-flying Buriram FC at the Thupatemee Stadium.

Division 2 (Bangkok)

Assumption Thonburi v Jamjuree
Samut Prakarn United v Globex
Thanyaburi Asia Utd v Bangkok Christian
Mapthaput Rayong v Thai Fleet
Kasetsart v Raj Vithi
NSRU v Thai Airways Luk Issan
Prachinburi v Nontaburi
North Bangkok FC v Kasem Bundit

The top 2 of Kasetsart and Raj Vithi will play each other on Sunday at the Kasetsart University Stadium. A win for either side would see them top the league at the halfway mark.
