Muangkan Utd 2-3 Nakhon Ratchasima

The only TPL side to exit the competition on Saturday was Sisaket. Their 2-1 loss at Phuket could hardly be described as an upset but Chiang Mai's 4-0 hammering at Chiang Rai City certainly upset many of the Chiang Mai supporters. Their goalkeeper had a 'mare as CRC became the first regional league side to make it into the hat for the last 32. Well that is if you don't count Ubon Ratchathani and Surat who were both given byes due to Trat and Saraburi not entering.
Udon Thani and Muangkan also came close but couldn't make it. Muangkan threw away a two goal advantage in their home tie with Nakhon Ratchasima. The woodwork was to deny Udon as they lost 2-1 at home to last season's runners-up Ratchaburi.
Some TPL clubs had it slightly easier with Bangkok Glass and Osotspa Saraburi hitting their division 2 opponents for six.

Sunday saw four TPL sides eliminated at the first hurdle. Army and Songkhla lost 1-0 at Trang and Samut Sakhon respectively while Bangkok United exited after losing a penalty shoot-out against Ranong. TOT suffered the biggest mauling as they lost 4-0 at first division Siam Navy.
Cup holders Buriram United cruised past the first stage with a 3-0 win in Maha Sarakham. It wasn't so easy for Muangthong and Chonburi though against Division 1 opponents. Muangthong needed extra time to see off Nakhon Pathom Utd while Pipob's last gasp strike spared Chonburi an extra 30 minutes in Roi Et.
