Thai Port 0-3 Muangthong United

Muangthong beat Thai Port 3-0 at the PAT Stadium this afternoon. On paper it appears a comfortable result for the Kirins, and at the end it was, but that doesn't tell the full story of the game.

For the first 40 minutes it was an even match. There wasn't much for either goalkeeper to do during this period, although it has to be said that it was an intriguing contest.

The incident that changed the match was a sending off for Thai Port's Sivakorn for two yellow cards. The first caution was for a dive in the Muangthong box and the second was for a high challenge on Jakkrapan . There was no malice on the youngster's part and the 2 yellows looked a bit harsh.

However, Muangthong weren't going to dwell on the decision, and the game was won with 2 goals from Piyapol on the 52nd and 54th minute. The first was a cool volley on the half-turn from 12 yards out, and the second was a header off a rebound from Thai Port's keeper, Wanlop.

TPL debut for Fowler
Muangthong then brought on Robbie Fowler, but the Englishman looked a couple of yards off the pace. He didn't do much and it will probably be a few weeks until we see the real Robbie Fowler.

By the time Christian scored the third goal on 90 minutes, the game was well and truly over.

Muangthong will be delighted to have won this game so comfortably considering they were missing some key players. For Thai Port, that's now two TPL home loses without scoring. The failure to buy a recognised striker during the transfer window could see them struggle for the second half of the season.
