Kasetsart won a hard fought 2-0 victory over promotion rivals North Bangkok. The game was played on a soaked pitch which caused players to slip and slide all over the place.
The home side got off to a flying start and was ahead after only 2 minutes. An in swinging free-kick was fumbled by the Nth Bkk keeper and Kaset’s number 4, Arun (not sure of correct English spelling), was left with a tap-in to open the scoring. The same player added a second midway through the first half after a good counter attacking move. He was presented with another tap-in as the keeper could only parry his initial shot and that left the Kasetsart midfielder with an easy task to complete his brace. Kasetsart continued to look dangerous on the break while the away team didn’t offer much in the first 45 minutes.
Nonetheless, NBkk were much improved after the break and dominated the half both possesion wise and territorially. A combination of stout defending, time wasting and poor finishing kept the Horsemen at bay though. At the end, Kasetsart were relieved to hear the final whistle. The win leaves them only 3 points behind the leaders RajVithi.
