FA Cup Draw Round 4&5

In true Thai style, the FA Cup draw needs a mathematician to work out the possible permutations.  The 2 outstanding ties left from Round 3 are Thai Port v Bangkok Glass and Army v Buriram. Once these have been finished there will be 18 teams left. Unfortunately, 4 teams were drawn out of the hat to play an extra round to make an even 16 for Round 5. Once they've been completed, Round 5 can commence. Confused?? I am!!

The draw goes something like this:

Round 4:
Songkla v Krabi FC
Muang Thong v Thai Port/ Bangkok Glass

Round 5:
Sri Racha  v BBCU
Police Utd v Buriram PEA
Chiang Rai v Chainat
Samut Songkram v Loei City
BEC Tero v Sisaket
Army/Buriram FC v Chonburi
TOT v Songkla/Krabi
Pattaya v Muangthong/ Thai Port/ Bangkok Glass

  1. I'm glad you worked out what was going on. I couldn't make head nor tail of it. Cheers!

  2. If I worked it out correctly, Thai Port would need to beat BG (H), MTU (A) and Pattaya (A) just to make the quarter finals. That seems like a lot of hard work!

Let's hope you get a kinder draw in the Toyota league cup quarters.

Anyway, I've got a ticket for TP v MTU today. Both sides have weakened squads so it's hard to predict what will happen. It will also be interesting to see what kind of reception Robbie Fowler gets from the Thai Port fans.

  4. The FA can call Songkhla vs Krabi & MTU vs TP/BG the fourth round all they like, but as far as i'm concerned, it's a third round playoff. How can it be classed as a proper round if 14 teams get a bye and only 4 teams have to play?

I look forward to reading your match report. It's half-time at the moment and it looks like the game is taking a rather familiar pattern.

  5. I'm about to write it now. It was a 3-0 loss but it has to be said that it was an even game until the sending off.

From TP's point off view, they pass the ball around well but there is nothing upfront. Ekkapoom is the biggest threat but he's not a striker or a goalscorer. If he gets injured, TP will really struggle.
