What's Coming Up..... February

The TPL and Division 1 seasons won't begin until the first weekend in March. Nevertheless there is a sprinkling of competitive action coming up in February to help wipe away the close season blues.
Listed below is the best of what's on offer:

  • Just as the 2012 season ended with the national team claiming the spotlight, the 2013 one commences with Winnie Schafer and his boys taking centre stage. Thailand will host Kuwait at the Rajamangala on 6th February as they kickoff their qualifying campaign for the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia.
  • Buriram United will be bidding to join Muangthong United in the AFC Champions League group stages when they welcome Brisbane Roar on 13th February. A win for Buriram would see them enter Group E with Muangthong already qualified in Group F. The first round of qualifying games will be played on 26th February.
  • The opening action for the regional leagues will take place on Valentine's Day with the curtain raiser highlighting they newly formed Futera Seeker as they travel to Prachuap. The rest of the sides enter the fray on the 16/17 February.
  • The qualifying round for the Toyota League Cup has also been drawn and will feature regional league sides bidding to join the big boys in Round 1. Ties will be played on the first two weekends of February.
  • There will still be an abundance of friendly match-ups with the significant two being the Kor Royal Cup & Toyota Premier Cup. Buriram United are involved in both taking on Nagoya Grampus in the Toyota Premier Cup at the Supachalasai on 16th Feb, while one week later they'll be back at the same venue to battle with bitter rivals Muangthong United for the Kor Royal Cup.
Edit: The Kor Royal Cup will be played at the Rajamangala and not the Supachalasai.
