Kasetsart 2-1 Thai Airways Luk Issan

Bangkok Division 2 champions, Kasetsart, came from behind to beat bottom placed Luk Issan 2-1.

Watching Pattalung coach, Anurak Srikert, who might face Kasetsart in the 'Champions League' playoffs, would have learned nothing as Kaset fielded a second string XI.

The home side were very lackluster in the first 45 and Luk Issan deservedly went in 1-0 up at the break. Their goal was scored after 15 minutes with a header from a corner.

After the break Kasetsart brought on first team regulars Natuphat and Sittiphong. They forced several chances and it was no surprise when top scorer, Sittiphong, equalized with about quarter of an hour left on the clock.

With 5 minutes to play Kasetsart got their winner when a Luk Issan player turned the ball into his own net. That goal more or less summed up the season for the side that has the lowest points total in Thai football.

In all honesty, Luk Issan were better than I thought they'd be. However had they met a full strength Kasetsart, it could have been a totally different game.

The Nagas have won 6 on the trot and will enter the Div 2 playoffs feeling confident. Next week, they will travel to Nontaburi to play their last game in the league. A win or draw would mean they've gone through the league season unbeaten away from home. That would be an incredible feat for the university side.

  1. Ha! Kasetsart v Luk Isaan this time. Love it! What sort of attendances do the champions get?

  2. About 400-500. It's a poor figure compared to other top regional division 2 sides. However, it is a big improvement on last season.
Looks almost certain that Nth Bangkok will be joining Kasetasrt in the playoffs.
I'd be very surprised if Nth Bangkok finish anywhere near the top 2 in the playoffs.
