Police United won their first game of the season as they kept Thai Port rooted to the foot of the TPL table.
The gloomy gray skies surrounding the PAT Stadium during the game reflected the mood of the home fans throughout and they vented their feelings at the final whistle after another meek performance saw Thai Port lose their fourth consecutive game of the season.
The first half was largely forgettable, but it improved after half-time as Police upped the tempo. Surachart could easily have broken the deadlock twice shortly after the break. His first attempt was blasted over the bar with only the keeper to beat, and his second effort was tipped onto the post by Wanlop.
Police had been the better side and they were rewarded on 72 minutes when Leandro slotted home a pass from the right to net Police United's first goal this season.
As the game was drawing to a close, there were three sending offs within the space of a few minutes. The first to go for an early bath was Thai Port's Kiatjaroen for two yellows and he was closely followed by his teammate, Ittipol, for a similar offence to reduce the homeside to 9 men. The referee obviously fancied doing some after match paperwork as he dismissed Police United's Jerry Amara with a straight red (I think) in the final moments.
In between all the dismissals, Steven Robb's slided effort was denied an equalizer by the Police keeper, Patarakorn, and Pokkhao of Police missed a sitter from yards out after Wanlop had produced a smart save.
As the match finished, Mario Cesar was desperately baying for a handball in the area from the final play of the game.
As mentioned earlier, the final whistle was greeted with cries of "ork bai" by the Klong Toei army towards the clubs owners/management. The latest rumour tonight is that Piyakul Kaewnamkang has resigned as Thai Port head coach and Adul Luekijna has stepped into the role.

Army United 2-1 Chonburi
Army United booked their place in the last 8 of the Thai FA Cup as they knocked out current holders Chonburi 2-1.
The Bangkok side produced one of their best performances since the early days of the season to beat a sluggish looking Chonburi side.
Army United had the better of the first half, but they failed to pierce the Shark's rearguard early on as their final ball from midfield lacked quality and they kept getting caught offside.
On 33 minutes, Army's attacking persistence paid off when Leandro impishly got between the two Chonburi central defenders and managed to squeeze a shot under Sintaweechai's body. The current Thai number one will be disappointed that he didn't keep out the Brazilians effort.
After the break, Chonburi made a couple of changes and their game improved. The Sharks had a couple of half chances, but the Army seemed to be whittling the clock down with the aid of constant treatment for injured players.
Just as the Blue Blood had almost given up hope, Pipob popped up with one of his customary headers to level matters with 5 minutes left on the clock.
The relief of the travelling support only lasted a couple minutes as second half substitute, Kraisorn, broke free of the Chonburi defence and coolly slotted the ball into the net for the winner.
With virtually the last kick of the game, Leandro received his second yellow card for petulantly blocking a Chonburi free-kick in their own half from 2 yards. That dismissal may come back to haunt the Home of Gentlemen in the next round.
Despite their antics, Army United deserved the win and they'll be hoping that they can carry this form over to the league performances.
As for Chonburi, their four pronged attack on the TPL, TLC, AFC Cup an FA Cup has unfortunately disappeared. It's now time to rebuild and focus on the 2012 season.

Army Utd must be wondering how they lost this match as they had more possession and chances than their hosts did.

The T-Rex improved after the interval and took the lead on 51 minutes through their captain, Rermrat. A corner from the right was only half cleared, and Rermrat's shot from outside the box squirmed under Kamphol's body in the Army goal.
After that, Khon Kaen set up their stall to hold on to their lead and break on the counter attack.
The T-Rex looked to be holding out relatively comfortably until the 85th minute when the game sparked back into life. Piyawat first pulled off a point blank save from Leandro, and then from the resulting corner, Tony Pinho hit the bar with a header.
As time ran out, Army Utd became increasing frustrated. As usual when Army Utd are losing, toys get thrown out of the pram, and Rafael was sent of in injury time for a second yellow card. I'm not sure why the Brazilian was dismissed. It was hard to see what was happening as several disgruntled Army players were confronting the referee after a decision didn't go their way.
To rub salts into the wounds of the Gentlemen Rangers, Sakonwat scored with a free kick deep into injury time to make it 2-0 to the T-Rex.

Army United 0-1 Thai Port
Thai Port earned their first TPL win under new coach, Thongchai Sukkokee, as a long range free-kick from Mongkol punished a disappointing Army United.
The visitors led on 20 minutes when Mongkol flighted a 25 yard free kick past Naratip in the Army goal.
With about 10 minutes left in the half, the home side were gifted the opportunity of a spot kick when the TP goalie, Wanlop, flattened Leandro as he was rounding him in the box.
The Brazilian got up rather gingerly, and dusted himself down to take the kick, but Wanlop made amends for his clumsiness as he guessed the right way to save the penalty.
Tha Reua made it into the break with a 1-0 lead and it was pretty evident that the plan in the second half was to hold on to what they had.
The boys in green were restricted to long shots which were pretty woeful, and any crosses into the box were competently dealt with by Wanlop.
I don't recall any real action in the second half as Thai Port held out for a very welcome 3 points.

Army Utd 2-1 Buriram FC
Army United beat Buriram FC 2-1 to progress to the 5th round (I think) of the FA Cup.
The game was played in soaking wet conditions and in all fairness either side could have won the tie.
As is obligatory at this time of year in Bangkok, the capital city had it's regular teatime downpour, and it had many wondering whether or not the cup tie would go ahead. Thankfully, by the time the game kicked off at 7pm, the main storm had passed. Nevertheless, heavy drizzle was to ensure inside the Royal Thai Army stadium for the entire 90 minutes.
There were no puddles evident on the pitch at kick off time, but as soon as play commenced, there were splashes every time the ball was played along the deck. Under the circumstances, both sides coped well and it was an entertaining spectacle despite the sodden pitch.
The opening goal came in the 58th minute. A cross from the right from Tatree squirmed out of of Buriram's keeper's hands, straight onto the head of Leandro, and the Brazilian duly opened the scoring.
Within a minute the Lava were level when an outswinging free-kick was headed back across the goal for central defender, Chalermpong, to head Buriram level.
Buriram probably looked the more likely to win after their goal as they held the bulk of possession. Army Utd were content to sit back and hope that lone striker Leandro could provide something on the counter attack.
With about 15 minutes left, Army Utd made a couple of offensive substitutions. Their attacking decision paid off when a long corner found Sarawut unmarked at the right-hand side of the box. His low shock sneaked into the bottom corner of the goal to give the home side the lead with about 8 minutes left on the clock.
The Gentlemen Rangers held out to book a 5th round home tie with current FA Cup holders, Chonburi.
As I said earlier, it was a game that could have gone either way, and I must give credit to the referee for doing a good job of officiating the game in difficult conditions. Many refs have come under criticism lately, but the man in the middle tonight did a good job.
