Bangkok United 2-2 Singh Tarua

The spoils were shared between Bangkok United and Singh Tarua. Both sides had a man sent off as the tie swung from end-to-end.

The home side almost took an early lead but the woodwork denied Kalifa Cisse's towering header.

After a shaky opening, Singh Tarua eased themselves into the game. The first goal of the evening came after a quarter of an hour when Leandro's looping free kick sailed over Pisan into the Bangkok United goal.

Tarua held their advantage until the stroke of half time. A handball from Watchara was penalised and Wichaya sent Chanin the wrong way to level.

Within four minutes of the restart, the Tarua keeper was picking the ball out of the back of his net again. Chanin fumbled a shot directly into the path of the prowling Paitoon and he gleefully tapped in the host's second.

Kroekrit hit the bar minutes later as Tarua pressed for a leveler. In the 57th minute, they were given a man advantage when Korawit received a second yellow card for an unnecessary rugby tackle.

In the 63rd minute, Singh Tarua were back on level terms when Leandro nodded in Lee Sang Ho's cross.

Tarua were looking the more likely to find a winner but that changed seven minutes from time when Warut was given a second yellow for pulling back an opponent.

Both sides seemed content to play out the remaining minutes for a point and on reflection it was a fair outcome. Leandro has scored all six of Singh Tarua's goals this season so there are no prizes for guessing who their key player is. Bangkok United's goal difference sees them just above the relegation zone. The have a strong squad and with the players they have available they should avoid relegation.

Army United 6-0 Bangkok United

Army United thumped Bangkok United 6-0 to win the Din Daeng derby.

The visitors conceded their first goal on five minutes after Jung Myung-Oh sidestepped a defender and let rip from 25 yards. The Korean's shot rebounded off the bar and Anuwat was on hand to net.

Five minutes later, a Lindemann corner from the right was flicked on by Tatree, and Chaiwat headed home for the second.

Bangkok United's closest effort of the game came on 18 minutes after a neat flick up by Gasmi allowed him to shoot from 25 yards, but his effort hit the base of the post.

Army were comfortably on top and Chainarong swivelled to find the bottom corner to convert a Lindemann slide rule pass on the half hour.

In all fairness, Bangkok United had their share of chances in the first hour, but the stuffing was knocked out of them when Mongkol converted Adisorn's square pass in the 73rd minute.

It was then just a matter of "how many" as Bangkok United wilted. Yet again Adisorn was allowed acres of space to burst down the right flank, and his cross was clipped home by Chainarong at the near post for his second of the night and Army's fifth.

With injury time approaching, Tatree finally go into the act knocking in a square pass from Lindemann to complete the rout.

It was an accomplished, professional performance from Army and at times their attacking play was outstanding. The only player who didn't impress me tonight was Mbuta.

On the other side of the coin, Bangkok United were awful and abject at the back and if they want to stay up they have to make themselves hard to beat. If they keep playing a back 4 with Prakasit, Mario, Gilson and Pongpipat, then they will be relegated in my opinion. As usual Romain Gasmi was United's most potent attacking threat and they'll need him to stay fit.

Bangkok United 2-3 BEC Tero

First half action

BEC Tero edged out Bangkok United 3-2 in an entertaining game at the Thai Japanese Stadium.

The home side cheered on by their orange clad supporters, started brightly with Ronnachai and Gasmi having half chances in the opening minutes.

Meanwhile, Tero were knocking the ball around nicely without really testing Jakkaphan in the United goal.

The breakthrough for the away side came in the 27th minute when Cleiton Silva shrugged off Mario da Silva too easily before running 35 yards to score the opener.

Sho Shimoji's shot skimmed off the face of the home side's bar while Mario da Silva headed a free kick from 12 yards narrowly over as the Fire Dragons held a 1-0 advantage at the break

The opening period had been been ticking over nicely, yet it moved up a notch shortly after halftime when BU made a positive substitution bringing on attacker Paul Ekollo for midfielder Tony Costa.

On 62 minutes, the positive change brought a goal when Ronnachai crossed to Sompong in the box who controlled, turned and fired home into the bottom corner.

That lead only lasted three minutes though. Cleiton flicked on to Wichaya who ran down the flank and squared for sub Rangsan to net.

A couple of minutes later, United thought they'd levelled again but the linesman's flag ruled out Chatchai's slide in.

However in their next attack, Bangkok United where awarded a penalty when Apiwat left out a leg that Sompong gladly tripped over.

Romain Gasmi was the man on spot kick duty and he hit the penalty to the right to make it 2-2.

The home side could have taken the lead in the 75th minute after a lovely move down the left, but Chatchai's shot skewed wide of the target.

The winning goal came two minutes later with Arzu finding the corner of the net after a precise free kick from just outside the box.

That goal was to prove to be the winner although BEC Tero's coach was sent to the stand five minutes from time after kicking a water bottle towards the linesman during a bout of frustration.

In my opinion both teams are probably a couple of players short of reaching their target this season; Tero's to win the TPL title and Bangkok United's to avoid a relegation battle. I'm not saying that the Angels will go down as they have some talented attacking players. Their weakness appears to be defensively and they give the impression that they'll ship a few goals this season.

New away end at Thai Japanese

Bangkok United 2-1 Suphanburi

Romain Gasmi inspired Bangkok United as they came from behind to beat Suphanburi 2-1.

United's coach Sasom Pobprasert would have been delighted with his French skipper's contribution yet he'll also be disheartened when he looks back at a couple of comically embarrassing moments that could have proved costly for his team.

The game came to life after the break and it was the away side who broke the deadlock on 56 minutes. With the ball sailing harmlessly out for a goal kick, BU's left back, Pollawat, decided to head the ball back across goal straight into the path of Emmanuel Nwachi who tapped it into a vacant net.

The home side responded seven minutes later with Gasmi's 30 yard free kick curling into the left side of the goal.

The captain was involved in the second goal as the same right peg provided the ammunition for Sompong to glance home a header from another free kick.

There was no late rally from Suphanburi despite the host's Gilson Dias receiving a red card in the dying seconds. The stretcher was twice called for the Brazilian in the final moments, and on the second occasion the referee red carded him for feigning injury. It was hilarious watching Gilson jump off the stretcher to remonstrate with the match official as the red card was produced.

The drama wasn't over as Dias appeared to gesture towards his own coach as he walked off the field. You have to wonder if Sasom will let him wear the orange colors of Bangkok United again.

For me, I feel Bangkok United will only achieve promotion if Gasmi stays fit as without him they look nothing special. Suphanburi have a big squad and are strong defensively, but they have strengthened their team with mainly aging players who will surely be commanding large salaries. Nonetheless, their depth of their squad should prove key to getting them over the finishing line.

Bangkok United 0-1 Krabi

Krabi moved to the top of Division 1 with a second half winner from pint-sized Laotian, Soukhaphone Vongchiengkham.

The first half was rather tepid although Bangkok United did strike the woodwork twice. Theerawat, in the Krabi goal, knocked a glancing header onto the crossbar while Jaruwat struck the post five minutes before the interval.

Krabi improved and made much of the running after half time. The breakthrough came on 51 minutes when Soukhaphone latched onto a headed through ball for his third goal of the season.

Antonin Trilles produced a couple of good saves to keep the home side in the contest and midway through the half the Angels were given a golden opportunity to equalize.

Sompong on ground after penalty decision

Sompong was nudged in the back by a Krabi defender and a penalty was awarded much to the displeasure of the away side. The ex-Thai Port man dusted himself down to take the spot kick, but his soft effort was easily saved by Theerawat.

The Energy

Theerawat palmed a shot around the post in injury time as "The Energy" held out for the win. Krabi weren't at their best in the first half, but they showed enough in the second to suggest that they'll be in the thick of the promotion race. Bangkok United though, severely missed their French talisman, Romain Gasmi. I'm not sure if he was injured or suspended tonight, but without Gasmi, Bangkok United lacked creativity.

Bangkok United 0-1 Ratchaburi

A last gasp goal from Ratchaburi inflicted a 1-0 victory over 10 men Bangkok United at the Thai-Japanese Stadium. It was slightly harsh on the home side as they'd fought bravely and seemed the more likely winners in the second half despite being a man short.

Strangely enough, in the first 45 minutes, Ratchaburi were the better side when it was 11 v 11. Douglas and Chitpon went closest for Ratchaburi in the opening period as the Dragon's play had more intensity about it than their hosts.

On 43 minutes, Bangkok United were reduced to 10 men when Alef was sent off for receiving two yellow cards within the space of a couple of minutes.

The visitors for some reason were subdued in the second half as Romain Gasmi began to stamp his authority on the game. An inswinging free kick midway through the half evaded everyone in the box and hit the post, and a defence splitting pass from Gasmi was blazed over the bar by Chatchai minutes later.

Just as the Angels looked to have earned a hard fought point, they were hit with a sucker punch when Ratchaburi's captain, Prayad, headed in at the near post from a 93rd minute corner to win the points for the Dragons.

I'm sure both clubs will be aiming to be in the promotion shake up come the end of the season. If Ratchaburi play like they did in the first and likewise Bangkok United in the second, then I'm certain the pair of them will be pressing for a top three finish. However, if you reverse the halves, then I'd reckon it will be mid-table finishes for the two sides.

Bangkok United 1-1 BBCU

The spoils were shared in the Din Daeng derby as Bangkok United and BBCU fought out a 1-1 draw.

BBCU played an hour of the game with only 10 players after Issawa was sent off for receiving two yellow cards. Out of the two teams, the Pink Power will be happier with the point from this match.

The first half was a stop-start niggly affair. BBCU could have been reduced to 10 men on 20 minutes. BBCU's left back Adun didn't like a challenge made by Korean, Jang Gil Hyeok, and he reacted by swinging at him. The ref yellow carded both players although by the letter of the law, Adun should have gone for an early bath.

Issawa is encouraged to leave the field

Ten minutes later though, BBCU were reduced to 10 players. Issawa had picked up an earlier yellow card and a lunging tackle brought him a second caution. The former Thai internationalist didn't agree with the decision though. It took him a couple of minutes to leave the field as he wanted to vent his anger in the direction of the referee and the Bangkok Utd players. Considering he's played more than 20 games for the national team, he's reaction was rather petulant.

BBCU goal

Despite only having 10 men, BBCU took the lead as the half time interval approached. By this time, it was pissing down and that certainly played a factor in the opening goal. An in swinging free kick from the right slipped out of United's keeper's grasp, and the dropped ball was bundled into the net by Kobenan Lion.

The downpour continued during the break and by the time the second half resumed the pitch was soaking wet.

The rain eventually did subside and on the hour Bangkok United were level. A shot from 25 yards out by Romain Gasmi took a deflection and beat Jean Marc Beyeme in the BBCU goal.

A couple of minutes later, the influencial Frenchman tried a long range shot from just inside the BBCU half that went inches over the bar.

Zico getting soaked

Kiatisuk Senamuang, or Zico to you and me, had surprisingly left top goal scorers Chainarong and Justine Uche Prince on the bench.

Chainarong did eventually enter the play and within a couple of minutes of his introduction, he could have scored. He was inches away from tapping in a sweeping cross from the left.

Tomas Kozer thought he had scored the winner with 10 minutes to go, but the Slovenian failed to notice the offside flag that had been raised by the linesman.

The game finished 1-1 and it's now 22 games since Bangkok United won at the Thai Japanese Stadium. They had the better of the second half, but couldn't break down the away sides resilient defending. When will the curse of the Thai Yeepun Stadium end?
