Saturday 9 March - Review

TPL

Buriram Utd 2-0 Bangkok Glass
Chainat 2-0 Songkhla Utd
Suphanburi 1-0 Chiang Rai Utd

It was a day that saw three home wins accompanied with three clean sheets as Buriram, Chainat and Suphanburi all enjoyed wins after opening day draws.
A crowd of just under 20,000 watched Buriram United beat Bangkok Glass 2-0. Two second half strikes from Carmelo Gonzales earned Buriram their first league win of the campaign and consigned BG to their second straight defeat.
Suphanburi left it late as Adisak prodded home an injury time winner for the War Elephants. Again it's worth noting the attendance with just over 10,000 present at the newly refurbished Suphanburi Municipality Stadium. It's nice to report that a club can complete stadium refurbishments on time during the pre-season.
Michael Byrne rattled in a free kick from the edge of the penalty area just after the break to open the scoring while Phuwadol added a second in the 75th minute to wrap up the points for Chainat. Darko Racocevic was given a second yellow card for an act of petulance as Songkhla finished the match with 10 players.

Division 1

Air Force 1-0 Krabi
Ayutthaya 0-0 Rayong FC
BBCU 3-1 Sriracha
Saraburi 0-0 Khon Kaen
Siam Navy 1-0 Rayong Utd

BBCU produced the performance of the day as they came from a goal down and a man down to win 3-1 over Sriracha. Gaston fired the Blue Marlins in front before Pichit leveled on the stroke of half time. Abbo was then dismissed for the Big Bang, but a quickly taken free kick from Pichit and a penalty from the same man which rebounded off the crossbar onto Hassachai completed the 3-1 scoreline. The official source has credited Pichit with the hat-trick but in my opinion the penalty has to go down as an own goal.
There wasn't much else to excite Division 1 followers with Ayutthaya v Rayong FC and Saraburi v Khon Kaen drawing blanks while Air Force edged out Krabi 1-0 and Tinnapob was on target for Siam Navy in their 1-0 win over Rayong United.
