The only Sunday game involving a Bangkok side was another snoozefest at the PAT between Thai Port and Osotspa. The game was played on a wet sticky pitch and rather predictably it ended 0-0. Thai Port still haven't scored a home league goal under the stewardship of new coach, Thongchai Sukkokee.
On Saturday it was a mixed bag of results for the local sides. TOT sprang a surprise as they beat Bangkok Glass 3-1 on their patch. BEC Tero's mini revival came to an end as they lost at home to Sisaket. Police United won their first game in 8 attempts with a 3-1 home win against Sriracha.
Army United's poor run of form continued as they lost 2-1 at Chiang Rai. The boys in green haven't tasted victory for 3 months now. Their last success was against Samut Songkram in July.
Chonburi kept their slim title hopes alive with a late winner at the Rajamangala Stadium against Navy. The Sharks will be counting the cost of their fans early misconduct as only 1,267 people attended the match.

BBCU quickly relinquished their hold on top-spot with a tepid 0-0 home draw to bottom placed RBAC. Buriram FC had it all too easy as they condemned Bangkok FC to another defeat. An early goal from Phuket was enough to give them a 1-0 win against Bangkok United.
Two second half goals from Anusak helped Air Force beat Chiang Mai 3-2 at the Thupatemi.
Elsewhere, Raj Pracha beat JW Rangsit 1-0, and Thai Honda's game at Chantaburi was suspended due to bad weather.

It's now a 3 horse race as Samut Prakarn Utd ended Raj Vithi's promotion hopes with a 1-0 victory yesterday. The other two promotion candidates also won 1-0. Kasetsart lead the table and only need 4 points from their last 3 games to book a play-off spot. North Bangkok need the other two to slip up and may well need to rely on landing a best placed third spot.

Al Kuwait v Muangthong
The AFC Cup resumes with 2 Thai sides looking for glory. Muangthong have a long journey to Kuwait. The Kirins will be boosted with the return of some injured players though.
Chonburi play Nasaf Qarshi FK of Uzbekistan. Both ties will be played tomorrow (Tuesday).

Thai Port v Pattalung - Semi, 1st Leg
BEC Tero v Buriram PEA - Last 8, 2nd Leg (1-2)
These ties will take place on Wednesday evening. Tero and PEA is a 2nd leg, quarter final tie. Buriram PEA currently hold a slender 2-1 advantage. This match has been moved from the Thephasadin to the neighboring Supachalasai to accomodate the larger crowd.
Toyota League cup holders, Thai Port, have a great chance of reaching the final for a second consecutive year. They are paired with 2nd division Pattalung. Port will be looking for a 2 goal advantage before they travel south next Wednesday for the second leg.
Looking at the remaining fixtures, I would expect SPU to finish second (Chamchuri away, and Fleet and Luk-Isaan at home). North Bangkok have got three banana skins (Globlex and Rajvithi at home and Prachinburi FC away). Obviously, I'm looking for NB to slip up. Can you see them taking maximum points from those three games? It's not a rhetorical question; put my mind at ease!
ReplyDeleteSPU should beat Thai Fleet and Luk Issan easily. Their game this Fri at Jamjuree would be the most likely place to drop points. It may possibly be a draw.
ReplyDeleteI can't see NB taking max points. Perhaps 6 or 7. Globex seemed to have improved so they might sneak a draw at Nth BKK. Prachinburi away won't be easy either. I'd expect them to beat Raj Vithi in the last game though.
It's still in Khorat's own hands. A win away at Roi Et next week would settle your nerves. Your other fixtures appear winable.
From watching the highlights clip, the BEC v PEA game was clearly played at the Thephasadin and not the Supasalasai.
