Prompong Kransumrong scored in the last minute of extra time to earn a 2-1 win for Korat over Muangthong United. The second half substitute played himself through after a lovely first touch, and he steadily composed himself to beat Weera in the MTU goal.
In regular time, Teerasil rose well to nod home a Thitipan cross in the 69th minute to give the Nonthaburi side the lead. Nakhon Ratchasima had played well throughout and deservedly levelled late on when Kim Song Yong beat Weera to a high ball to head home.
The tie looked destined for penalties until Prompong stuck in the dying seconds.
Elsewhere there were two other upsets with Rayong FC and Udon Thani also eliminating TPL opponents. Udon Thani scored a late goal to send Songkhla United out of the competition while Rayong FC eventually prevailed to run out 4-2 winners over Police United.
Khon Kaen conceded seven goals for the second time in a week as they lost 7-1 at Ratchaburi while Chaing Rai United and Chonburi's seven goal weekend encounter couldn't be repeated as they drew 0-0. The tie eventually went to penalties and on the 12th kick, Leandro Assumpcao was the fall guy when Sinthaweechai was the first keeper to save a spot kick
In Buriram, the match with Siam Navy was suspended twice due to a massive downpour. Buriram eventually squelched their way through to the quarter finals with late goals from Carmelo and Osmar ensuring their 3-1 win.
