The "two MTU blog writers" both happen to be married and have kids, so they have other things in their life. Loyalty isn't only judged by having enough free time to go to away games.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07036571811589362729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6416795963169301456.post-63676335614914958952011-08-31T14:23:48.100+07:002011-08-31T14:23:48.100+07:00I also know quite a few people who aren't base...I also know quite a few people who aren't based in Thailand that have adopted Thai Port as their Thai team. As you said above, they saw one game and liked the atmosphere at the PAT and decided to go back again.BKK Football Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11585801449975555154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6416795963169301456.post-24539700226493518662011-08-31T09:12:25.689+07:002011-08-31T09:12:25.689+07:00"So it got me thinking, why have these foreig..."So it got me thinking, why have these foreigners opted for Thai Port rather than the other two downtown based TPL clubs BEC Tero Sasana and Army United?"
I can ask you this because I talked to them some weeks ago... Many follow TP for a short time. They came to Bangkok to teach and live here on a temporarily basis. Some guys of them love football and wanted to see a match. They said, "ok we will go to the next match that will be played" and this was a TP match. If it was a BEC match maybe this were their only match they´ve ever seen here but they liked the athmosphere at Pat so they went again and brought some more of their friends (about 30 people or so)...
MTU doesn´t have so much foreign fans. Only 2 of them follow the team to home and away matches regularly (other guys than the 2 MTU blog writers). But MTU got a foreigner boost since Fowler is playing for the team.
If BBCU will get promotion to TPL I don´t think that they will attract foreigners...boyser-ushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02155086106688113302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6416795963169301456.post-81576100973490039242011-08-28T07:47:51.567+07:002011-08-28T07:47:51.567+07:00When I went to Tero v TTM I noticed 4 other farang...When I went to Tero v TTM I noticed 4 other farangs at the game. It's a 10 minute walk from the stadium to Queen Sirikit subway station.
For me I can walk to the Army Stadium, take a subway to TP or the sky train to Tero. They are all easily accessible. I enjoy going to Thai Port and Army but I've never enjoyed a game at Tero. This weekend, the only TPL game is between Tero and TTM. To be honest, I'd rather go to a 2nd division game than go to the Thephasadin.BKK Football Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11585801449975555154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6416795963169301456.post-3497317835703419482011-08-25T06:20:30.086+07:002011-08-25T06:20:30.086+07:00Have you also considered ease of access? AFAIK, Army United and TP would require taxi or motorbike access, which means risking your neck or getting stuck in traffic on a regular basis.
It's not much bother for the occasional match but if you were a regular fan, it would grind you down after a while.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03580297288681351498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6416795963169301456.post-74865355404180364332011-08-24T21:24:33.177+07:002011-08-24T21:24:33.177+07:00That's pretty decent. Before that they were out in Nong Jok. It took awhile, but their Thai support seems to have migrated with them.

I've noticed a number of African fans as well at Div 1 & 2 gameswolfmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12306656496567557142noreply@blogger.com
